There’s no official Within connector for Microsoft Copilot yet. Until there is, the way to use Within in Microsoft 365 Copilot is a custom agent: someone in your organization creates an agent in Copilot Studio, adds Within to it as an MCP server, and publishes it to your users.

What your organization needs

  • Copilot Studio. Your organization needs Copilot Studio, and the person doing the setup needs a license that can create and publish agents. Trial licenses can’t publish. See Copilot Studio licensing.
  • A Within account. The person creating the agent signs in to Within while adding the server, which also tests the connection. Everyone who uses the agent needs their own Within account too, since each user signs in the first time the agent calls Within.
Copilot Studio runs MCP servers through Power Platform connectors. If your environment’s data policy blocks custom connectors, your Power Platform admin needs to allow them.

How it fits together

Labels below match Copilot Studio as of October 2026. Microsoft is renaming Microsoft 365 Copilot to Microsoft Copilot, so some screens may say Teams and Microsoft Copilot instead of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams.

Create the agent

1

Create a new agent

In Copilot Studio, open Agents and click the chevron next to New agent. Under Other ways to build, choose Agent (Standard). Name the agent and click Create.
2

Add Within as an MCP server

On the agent’s Overview tab, go to Tools and click + Add tool, then Add new MCP. Give the server a name and description, and set:
  • Server URL: https://api.within.ai/mcp
  • Authentication: OAuth 2.0
  • Type: Dynamic discovery
Click Create. No client ID or secret is needed.
3

Connect and add the tool

In the Add tool dialog, Connection shows Not connected. Open the dropdown, create a new connection, and sign in with your Within account. Once the connection shows a green check, click Add.
4

Test

Click Test and ask a question about your processes, such as What changed in our processes recently? The agent should answer from your Within workspace.

Publish to your organization

1

Publish

Click Publish, then Publish again in the confirmation dialog.
2

Turn on Microsoft 365 Copilot

Open Channels and click Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams. Make sure Make agent available in Microsoft 365 Copilot is checked, then click Add channel.
3

Choose who can use it

Click Availability options:
  • Show to my teammates and shared users makes it available to people you share it with.
  • Show to everyone in my org, followed by Submit to org catalog, sends it to your Microsoft 365 admin. Once approved in the Microsoft 365 admin center (Agents → All agents → Requests → Publish to store), it appears under Built by your org in the Agent Store.

Use it in Microsoft 365 Copilot

1

Add the agent

Users find the agent in the Agent Store in Microsoft 365 Copilot and click Add. To open it yourself right away, go to Channels → Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams in Copilot Studio and click See agent in Microsoft 365.
2

Sign in to Within

The first time the agent calls Within, it replies Let’s get you connected first. Click Open connection manager, then Connect next to the Within connection, and sign in to Within. When it shows Connected, go back to the chat.
3

Retry

Click Retry or send your request again. The agent now answers from your Within workspace.
The connection prompt only appears when the agent actually tries to call Within. If you don’t see it, ask a question that needs Within data.

Verify

In the agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot, ask:
The agent should call Within tools and return process results from your workspace.

Troubleshooting

Publishing alone doesn’t add it. Use See agent in Microsoft 365 from the channel panel, or check that your admin approved the request in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Open the connection manager and check that the Within connection shows Connected. If sign-in fails, confirm you have a Within account.
Click Publish again after every change in Copilot Studio. If the agent is in the org catalog, your admin approves the update before it reaches users.

If you don’t have access

If your organization doesn’t have Copilot Studio, install Within in one of the other clients instead.
